Mark Hampson was born in Oldham, England in 1968. He studied at Chelsea School of Art 1986-90 and then the Royal College of Art 1990-1992 where he was awarded an M.A. with distinction in Fine Art Printmaking. He won the first ever Susan Kasen Summer award which took him to the U.S.A where he lived until 1997.

Since his first solo exhibition in 1994 he has exhibited widely through Europe, the U.S.A., Japan and Korea. He has presented 18 solo shows and in addition has been represented in over 100 international group exhibitions. He was awarded several prestigious awards, most recently the Bronze medal at the Osaka triennial, Japan and also the special prize of the Marshall of Maloposkie Volvodeship at the Krakow Inernational Print triennial. He is represented in numerous major collections including the Victoria & Albert museum, the Arts Council of Great Britain, The Nickles museum, Hyundai Arts Collection, Gyor City Arts museum, Metropolitan museum of Art, The Osaka Prefectural Government and Tama Arts University.

In 2007 he was made a fellow of the Royal College of Art where he works as senior tutor in Fine Art Printmaking. Currently he lives in London with his wife Michelle and daughter Harmony.
